The Old Firehouse is very popular with both students and Exeter locals alike due to its great atmosphere, good drinks and great food. Head chef has been trained to the highest level in French, Italian & Traditional English cuisine, and brings his knowledge to create delicious simple rustic food from local suppliers where possible. From sandwiches to fish & chips, home made soup to giant rustic late night pizzas.
We serve food daily from midday.
The Old Firehouse is acknowledged to be one of the region’s best ale & cider pubs with an entry in the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) annual Good Beer Guide for the last six years along with the local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year (POTY) runner up in 2011, currently we are POTY for cider and Regional POTY runner up for cider for 2012.
The Old Firehouse have also received the Cask Marque accreditation… Praise indeed!
The Old Firehouse is a great bar with an ever-changing selection of cask ales for about £3 a pint. The pub quiz on Monday is a fun, student-oriented night. The atmosphere at the Old Firehouse is what makes this place so special. Candelit medieval style – supposedly what inspired JK Rowling to write the Leaky Cauldron into the Harry Potter series. Will definitely be going back to try the food (and after a night of drinks, the Pizza!)

The Old Firehouse is justifiably one of the busiest pubs in Exeter, filled with students and locals alike. The courtyard outside is a good place to sit, always lively, and there is often live music in the downstairs bar. There are two floors upstairs too and the atmosphere on all floors is always friendly and congenial. The pizzas are brilliant, and cheap, and they offer a varied selection of booze – including plenty of real ales and ciders. Brilliant place
